General Eligibility & Expectations

  • Resident of the City of Manvel (or ETJ, if specified by the board’s enabling ordinance/bylaws).
  • Commitment to attend meetings and participate actively.
  • Compliance with applicable codes of conduct, ethics, and training (e.g., Open Meetings & Public Information).

Boards at a Glance

  • Planning, Development & Zoning (PD&Z)
    Advises on land use, zoning, and subdivision rules; meets 2nd & 4th Mondays at 6:00 p.m.
  • Manvel Economic Development Corporation (MEDC)
    Focuses on economic growth, jobs, and business support; typically meets the 3rd Wednesday.
  • Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBOA)
    Quasi-judicial board for appeals, variances, and special exceptions to zoning; convenes as needed.
  • Parks Board
    Advises on park planning, programming, and community partnerships; meets as needed.
  • Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 3 (TIRZ #3)
    Oversees TIRZ-related projects and financing; meets as needed.
  • South Manvel Development Authority (SMDA)
    Guides development and stewardship within the district; meets as needed.
  • Building and Standards Commission
    Quasi-judicial body for substandard/dangerous structures and property maintenance; meets as needed.
  • Capital Improvements Advisory Committee (CIAC)
    Advises on impact fees and capital improvements under state law; meets as needed.
