The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the City of Manvel the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its most recent budget, highlighting another achievement in the City’s efforts to promote responsible financial planning and transparency.
The award reflects the City’s commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive this recognition, Manvel’s budget document had to meet nationally recognized guidelines designed to assess how well it functions as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications tool. The City was required to be rated "proficient" in all four categories and the fourteen mandatory criteria within them.
“This recognition represents the hard work and dedication of our City Council and staff to provide a budget that is not only fiscally responsible but also clear, accessible, and aligned with the City’s Core Values of Stewardship and Transparency,” said City Manager Dan Johnson.
The Budget Awards Program has over 1,700 participants. Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.
The most recent Budget Award recipients and their corresponding budget documents are posted quarterly on GFOA's website. For more information about the GFOA or to view award-winning budget documents, visit gfoa.org.
