Having moved to Manvel recently I am surprised and little discouraged to find we do not have a grocery store close by! I love H-E-B but it disappointing that we have to drive into Pearland, where the traffic is so congested, to shop. Other alternatives are to Alvin or Friendswood. I was told there would be a store going up in our town but have not heard when this will actually happen? Having just received by property tax statement I am shocked that we pay what we do and yet we don't have a grocery store!

Well this is more of a necessity than anything else. Manvel is a growing town. Now with well over 10,000 people we are racing towards beating Alvin (24,000 ppl). Yet our small town is still small, we haven’t yet adopted the idea of expanding and using our resources as we should be. We have MUCH available space along HW6 and I truly believe we should be planting structures such as restaurants or entertainment and hotels. These additions would allow Manvel to be more than a drive through never look back town but a town of affluence where one could stop for 100 different types of food and maybe see a movie at a theater or go for a walk in the park or even stay at a hotel or RV park. Manvel has immense opportunities and we should be taking full advantage of how we want our town to look in 10yrs because wether we realize it or not....we are already there, we are already ahead of the game and need to continue this rise.
