Beginning on Monday, September 18, the City of Manvel will commence a comprehensive fire hydrant survey, projected to last approximately two weeks. This survey is an integral part of our ongoing efforts to maintain the highest water management and safety standards.
This survey will not have any adverse impact on your water pressure. However, while surveyors are active in your area, you may observe temporary cloudiness in your tap water. Please be advised that this cloudiness is entirely harmless. Should you encounter cloudy water, simply run your tap until the cloudiness dissipates.
The primary objectives of this survey are:
1. To verify the functionality of all 500+ hydrants across our city.
2. To confirm that hydrants operate at the appropriate pressure levels.
3. To catalog any newly installed hydrants or identify any missing ones.
In the event that a hydrant is determined to be non-functional during the survey, it will be marked with a black bag to ensure the City and the Fire Department are aware it is out of service. We kindly request that residents refrain from removing these bags as they serve as markers for necessary maintenance.
Your cooperation and understanding during this essential maintenance work are greatly appreciated. The safety of our community and the reliability of our water supply remain our utmost priorities. If you have any questions or concerns related to this hydrant survey, please do not hesitate to contact us at 281-971-2864 or by email at robbie.hall@cityofmanvel.com or ray.word@cityofmanvel.com.
