Fatality accident involving two motor vehicles

Saturday, August 15, 2009, Officers from the Manvel Police Department along with Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to a motor vehicle accident ΒΌ mile South of CR 58, on 288 in the Southbound lane. Upon arrival of the officers the two vehicles were a 1996 Ford Ranger and a 1999 Ford F250. According to the officers investigation and witnesses at the scene the Ford Ranger was travelling Northbound in the Southbound lane of 288 when it struck the Ford F250 which was traveling Southbound on 288. The driver of the Ford Ranger was pronounced dead on the scene and the driver and passenger of the Ford F250 were transported by Manvel E.M.S. to Memorial Herman Hospital with non life threatening injuries The driver and passenger of the Ford F250 were both residents of Houston, as was the driver of the Ford Ranger. No names are being released at this time pending notification of next of kin. The accident is currently under investigation of the Manvel Police Department and it is not known if alcohol was a factor in the accident, though alcohol was found at the scene.
