On Wednesday, February 25, 2009 Officers from the Manvel Police Department responded to 20,100 Morris Avenue, also known as State Highway 6, for an accident involving two vehicles. Upon arrival at the location of the accident, the two vehicles were described as a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pick up truck and a 2003 Ford Explorer. According to witnesses at the scene the Chevrolet Silverado had previously been seen traveling Westbound on State Highway 6 at a high rate of speed and driving in what they termed "an erratic manner." Witnesses stated that after passing through the intersection of Morris Avenue and Masters Road the Silverado crossed over into the Eastbound lane and struck the Ford Explorer. The driver of the Silverado was identified as John Wayne Bond, age 60, of Manvel, Texas. Mr. Bond was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital by Manvel E.M.S. and was later pronounced dead. The extent of Mr. Bonds injuries and cause of death are under investigation pending the results of an autopsy by the Medical Examiner's Office. The driver of the Ford Explorer, an Iowa Colony resident, received minor injuries from the accident.
