 Duties of City Secretary

  • The City Secretary serves as the City Records Management Officer, and maintains the accurate records for the City that are available to the public.
  • Serves as the City Insurance and Benefits Administrator.
  • Conducts all municipal elections and serves as the early voting clerk.
  • Prepares and distributes City Council agenda packets and materials.
  • Posting all agendas of meetings of the City Council as required by the Open Meetings Act.
  • Maintains the official minutes books and permanent files, and official seals.
  • Prepares and coordinates submittals for the City’s Codification of Ordinances supplements.
  • Prepares and transmits public hearing advertisements and legal notices to the official newspaper as required by ordinance.
  • Compiles and maintains City employee personnel files.
  • Assists residents with questions and refers them to the proper department.
