MANVEL, CITY ON THE RISE
FROM THE MAYOR’S DESK MARCH 27, 2014
Due to a miscommunication of March 24th, the STATE CHAMPION LADY MAVERICKS BASKETBALL TEAM will be honored on the 14th of April City Council Meeting. We are all so very proud of these girls and their accomplishments. We want to express our gratitude with a small token from the city.
As you know, the City of Manvel offers a $90,000 exemption to people over 65 and the disabled on their Manvel taxes. This has been in place for the past several years. If you are 65 or older, please contact the Brazoria County Appraisal District and let them know you qualify.
The City of Manvel deserves a “Gold Star”!!. Our bond rating was re evaluated and much to our wonder, the bond rating has been elevated from a AA- to a AA+. Congratulations the City of Manvel. You are doing something right!!!
The public hearings regarding possible annexations will be held at Manvel City Hall, 20025 SH6 on Monday, March 31st and Monday, April 07th beginning at 6pm. Any and all interested parties are encouraged to attend. The City Council needs to hear your comments.
Pearland Medical Center is celebrating another construction milestone. There will be a ‘SIGN THE STEEL” on Wednesday, April 2th from 11:30 to 1:00. Even though it is not located in the City of Manvel, it is much closer than the Medical Center in times of need. We salute the City of Pearland and thank them for inviting us to share.
The CERT graduation on the 24th was a proud occasion for the City of Manvel. We are very proud of the participants: Tammy and Aaron Bell, Lew and Mary Ann Shuffler, Delores Martin,
Don Palmer, Jason Rains, Dr. Dewitt, John Remark and Diane Chambers. On Thursday, March 27th, a new class will begin at the EMS Building, 6931 FM1128 at 6:30pm. This a worthwhile project that will benefit you as well as your community.
Thank you for your continued input and support. “FOR TOMORROW BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE WHO PREPARE FOR IT TODAY”.
