FROM THE MAYOR’S DESK…August 22, 2014

The City of Manvel suffered a tragic loss this past week with the deaths of Chief of Police Keith Traylor’s mother, the husband and son of our Manvel High School Principal, Charlotte Liptack and our beloved long time barber, Steve Moore. These are at peace with the Lord. Please keep their families in your prayers that God will bless them with the added strength they will need at this time.

Orchard Park at Southfork, 3151 Southfork Parkway is celebrating their grand opening “An Evening In Paris” on Thursday, August 28, 2014 beginning at 4:30pm. There will be food, entertainment and door prizes.  If you plan to attend, please RSVP at 713 960 4727..

Please keep up the good work of contacting the Police Department, 281 489 1212 if you witness any illegal dumping. Your eyes are a valuable asset to provide assistance to the police and help catch the ones who want to violate our city with their trash. Let them keep it in their own yards.

Remember to mark your calendars regarding the tree lighting ceremony on Friday, December 05th at Manvel City Hall and the MANVEL AT CHRISTMAS PARADE on Saturday, December 06th. We are actively seeking donations towards the fireworks display following the parade. If you would like to donate or participate in the planning of these activities, please call city hall. This is your city. Let us make this happening one to remember.

MEDC has awarded the contract to Haddock Construction for $1,508,586.15 for the infrastructure to SH288. Once the pre-development has taken place, the project will begin. The MEDC sign will be erected at the same time. The City of Manvel is indebted to MEDC for their aggressiveness and dedication to open the gates for economic growth along SH6. It has been a long time coming, but it is blessing it is here.

The school year is here. Please be extra careful. Observe the school zones. The children may not be as careful as they should be.

Thank you for your continued input and support. Remember TODAYS THOUGHTS SHAPE TOMORROW’S DESTINY.
God Bless!
