Severe Weather

Preparing for and understanding severe weather can be the difference between life and death. The City of Manvel would like to provide education about these severe weather events and help residents prepare for severe weather events. 

In the event of severe weather, Manvel also encourages residents to follow our social media channels, sign up for emergency notifications through Blackboard, and stay in touch with the city and local news outlets. 

Hurricane Preparedness

Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30 each year and, on average, produces 12 tropical storms and 6 hurricanes. By knowing what actions to take before hurricane season begins, what to do when a hurricane approaches, measures to keep you safe when the storm is in your area, and what to do after a hurricane, you can increase your chance of survival and better protect yourself, your family, and your property. Winter Weather Preparedness

Winter weather is becoming more and more frequent across the State of Texas and it affects millions of people every year. Dangerously cold temperatures can be life-threatening, and people exposed to extreme cold are susceptible to frostbite and hypothermia. Flood Preparedness

Flooding is a year-round threat in the Houston-Galveston area and the most common natural disaster in the United States. Extreme Heat

Extreme heat is a period of high heat and humidity with temperatures above 90 degrees for at least two to three days. In extreme heat, your body must work harder to maintain a normal temperature, which can lead to death. Heat and heat waves are one of the leading weather-related killers in the United States, and results in hundreds of fatalities each year, but heat-related illnesses and death are largely preventable with proper planning, education, and action.
