A tax rate of .61 per $100 valuation has been proposed by the governing body of CITY OF MANVEL.

The no-new-revenue tax rate is the tax rate for the 2020 tax year that will raise the same amount of property tax revenue for CITY OF MANVEL from the same properties in both the 2019 tax year and the 2020 tax year.
The voter-approval tax rate is the highest tax rate that CITY OF MANVEL may adopt without holding an election to seek voter approval of the rate, unless the de minimis rate for CITY OF MANVEL exceeds the voter-approval tax rate for CITY OF MANVEL.
The de minimis rate is the rate equal to the sum of the no-new-revenue maintenance and operations rate for CITY OF MANVEL, the rate that will raise $500,000, and the current debt rate for CITY OF MANVEL.
The proposed tax rate is greater than the no-new-revenue tax rate. This means that CITY OF MANVEL is proposing to increase property taxes for the 2020 tax year.
A public hearing on the proposed tax rate will be held on September 21, 2020 at 7:00pm at the Manvel City Hall located at 20025 Hwy 6 in Manvel Texas 77578 and via teleconference at 210-469-0207 or toll free 877-257-2190 Conference ID 514 376 792#
The proposed tax rate is not greater than the voter-approval tax rate. As a result, CITY OF MANVEL is not required to hold an election at which voters may accept or reject the proposed tax rate. However, you may express your support for or opposition to the proposed
tax rate by contacting the members of the City Council of CITY OF MANVEL at their offices or by attending the public meeting mentioned above.

The public hearing is for the purpose of hearing comments for or against the following;
THE PROPOSED ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR OF OCTOBER 1, 2020 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 2021. THIS BUDGET WILL RAISE MORE TOTAL PROPERTY TAXES THAN LAST YEAR'S BUDGET BY $393,256 OR 7.36% INCREASE FROM LAST YEAR’S BUDGET, AND OF THAT AMOUNT, $321,927 IS TAX REVENUE TO BE RAISED FROM NEW PROPERTY ADDED TO THE TAX ROLL THIS YEAR. /S/ TAMMY BELL, CITY SECRETARY
